Pliva bid: Actavis gave up...

Actavis announced today that it would not up its offer for Pliva, which was trumped by Barr last week. Apparently Barr will be the new owner of Pliva, barring any unforseen factors.

The game of Authorized Generics took an interesting turn today. Barr, at the news of Watson's generic Seasonale approval, launched the generic version of its own brand product. While the move is certainly logical and expected, it does add a slight flavor of cannibalism to the already throat-cutting industry--after all, Barr started as a generic company.

BTW, tomorrow will be the latest that Barr should respond to Actavis's offer for Pliva tendered a week ago. No news yet. Good news then?
